Resveratrol to help bone density

According to an article in Nutraceuticals world September 2020, a recent study published in the Journal for Bone and Mineral Reasearch found that “resveratrol’s propensity to benefit the microcirculation of blood to tissues in the human body was beneficial to improving bone mineral density in women suffering from osteoporosis”.  Resveratrol is the naturally-occurring polyphenol found in red grapes and berries and is also available in supplement form. It has also been studied for its bioactive effects including antitumor activity, anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective and neuroprotective effects to mention a few.

The study conducted in Australia at the University of Newcastle’s clinical Nutrition Center is the largest longest- running study of its kind with reservatrol. The results had them conclude that reservatrol could be used synergistically with calcium plus vitamin D supplements to further reduce the risk of total and hip fractures.
